Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Cardiac Sonographer)
Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA

USGP is currently seeking a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Cardiac Sonographer) to join the Cardiology Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, providing essential healthcare services to our military service members, veterans, and their families.

Education:
- Graduate of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography through CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Continuing medical education (CME) of at least 12 hours within the past 12 months, from ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI
- At least 1 year of recent experience as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer within the last 4 years
- OR -
- A recent graduate (within 1 year) of a CAAHEP-accredited echocardiography program
- Must have hands-on experience with:
- 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, Color Flow, Bubble Study, and contrast media
- Current certification with ARRT (SARRT or post-primary in Sonography)
- ARDMS certification as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- CCI certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Hepatitis B (series and titer)
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- TB (Tuberculosis) test
- Seasonal Influenza vaccine
- COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)
- Perform noninvasive vascular diagnostic procedures (e.g., carotid, venous/arterial duplex, renal artery, SMA, portal hepatic duplex)
- Operate diagnostic equipment including duplex imagers, PVR, treadmill, Doppler, and PPG
- Educate patients with peripheral vascular disease to support better outcomes
- Support scheduling and triage efforts for vascular patients across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Analyze and communicate findings clearly to healthcare providers
- Maintain diagnostic equipment and manage lab supply inventory
- Utilize computerized data systems for scheduling, record keeping, and quality assurance
- Provide training to healthcare staff, students, and physicians on diagnostic procedures and care standards
