Certified Surgical Technician - Full-Time
Location: Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Virginia
Employer: U.S. Got People (USGP)
Pay: $35.00 per hour + Health Benefit Stipend
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0645-1515

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Graduate of a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a formal military training program for surgical technicians, technologists, or operating room technicians from the Army, Navy, or Air Force.

Certification:

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA

Experience:
At least one year of experience after graduation as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician within the past two years.

Immunization Requirements  (must be current or willing to obtain) :

• Hepatitis B (series & titer)
• Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
• Tuberculosis (TB) test
• Annual Influenza (flu) vaccine
• COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sterile techniques including setting up surgical trays, prepping and draping patients, and assisting with dressings after surgery
• Ensure surgical instruments are cleaned, packed, and prepared for sterilization after procedures
• Restock surgical supplies and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
• Support environmental cleanliness of the OR and related clinical areas
• Prepare for upcoming surgeries by reviewing the OR schedule and verifying equipment availability
• Notify the surgical team of any missing or unavailable equipment
• Manage routine supply items and collaborate with the department's supply officer
• Maintain instruments, equipment, and overall functionality of the surgical suite
• Provide administrative and office automation support as needed
• Assist in Sterile Processing Department duties including cleaning, processing, and sterilizing surgical tools
